Invoking God into our Week

We are going to review how we are managing what God has given us: time and treasures, relationships and resources – our current station in life. Don’t let the initial top-of-the-head answer keep you from delving in a little deeper in silent reflection……I strongly encourage you to actually type or write out your answer(s).

1 Timothy 4:12

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

How does your current age free you up to serve where others either older or younger would be unable to do so? Think about the examples you set in those areas of speaking, living, loving, faith, and purity.

Lord Jesus, remind me that I am ALWAYS setting an example – so help me to follow Yours.

Trinity

We step into this week celebrating You, Father, giver of all good gifts;

We celebrate You, Jesus, the ultimate gift to the world from the Father;

We celebrate You, Holy Spirit,  who gives us gifts to serve one another in God’s grace;

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

In the Word

John 9:3

“This happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

In this verse, Jesus is referring to a man’s blindness, part of his life since birth. His blindness, Jesus said, was an opportunity to display God’s glory in his life. Regardless of how “healthy” or “sick” you may be, how can your current health situation lead to an opportunity to let God’s work be displayed in your life?

Lord, God let my life’s situation bring You glory.

Amen.

Psalm 92:14

Scripture

The righteous will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.

The question isn’t so much how old (or young) you are, but rather how “fresh and green”– how alive, ripe, maturing, and fruitful you are in the Lord. As the Holy Spirit keeps you fresh, you will indeed be able to bear fruit no matter your age. How can your current age be an asset in serving in your community and your the church?

Lord, show me the blessing that my current age is for being an asset in my world.

Amen.

1 Corinthians 6:20

Scripture

“you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body”.

In some areas of health and body, we have no control; in other areas, good management and wise choices can make a significant difference. How might you better manage your health and use your body to honor the Lord?

Jesus, may I honor You with this body and soul You bought back with Your sacrificial death for my sins.

Amen.

Romans 12:6

Scripture

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us”

By God’s grace, we each have abilities given to us. How do your current abilities enable you to serve where others without such abilities cannot do so (or have a more difficult time doing)? Whose gifts and abilities serve as a blessing in your world because they compliment your inabilities (or weaknesses)?

Lord God, don’t let me hide my talent or leave it unused along the way – I desire to honor You with Your gifts to me.

Amen

2 Corinthians 12:9

Scripture

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

God allowed a certain weakness to stay in the Apostle Paul’s life, bringing an essential trust in the power of God for deliverance. How can your inability to do something become a way for God to be glorified in your life? Can you bring yourself to thank God for your weaknesses? (and don’t tell me that you don’t have any!)

So… say thanks to God because it drives you to the Lord – that is good!

Lord, I pray [insert your prayer here]

Amen.

God's Blessing on His People

God Bless You

Romans 12:11

Scripture

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”

What situations in life – because they are not what you wanted at this point – have taken away your zeal? Remind yourself that God can and does work in, through, and around these situations?

Pray for your spiritual fervor to return strongly (or stay strong) and pray for zeal to live for and serve God in EVERY circumstance.

Lord, I pray [insert your prayer here]

Amen.
