Disciples "Go" While Abiding in Him

John 10:9

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.

Pondering Point

Jesus is the Gate – the gate to salvation, the gate to life. As we follow this imagery as believers, we “come” in the gate, but then go back out as well.

We’re not leaving Jesus or salvation behind, but "going out and finding pasture under the care of Jesus, who provides for us even in the presence of our enemies", to quote Psalm 23:5.

Once we enter into life with Jesus Christ, the Gate – which starts immediately in our faith/baptism – we move into living the salvation life in Him and under Him. No matter where we come or go in life, here or there or anywhere – even with green eggs and ham – we will find that Jesus gives us “pasture,” what we need.

He is the bounteous Shepherd who gives abundant life. But it all starts by being IN HIM and entering into life through Him.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, the Gate, thank You for giving me life and salvation. I look forward to going in and out and finding pasture, my daily bread, that you give day after day. Thank You for being with me always and protecting me in the presence of my enemies. In Your name I pray. Amen.
