Acts 1:8
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
~Jesus
• In Christ, I am a witness to the goodness of God’s love in the forgiveness of sins that comes through Jesus Christ the Lord.
Pondering Point
From the time of Jesus’ ascension till the time of His return, His disciples are to be His witnesses. We are called to witness of Jesus’ love and forgiveness no matter where we go or what we do. Whether it’s by word or action, we are His witnesses in all of life. As Peter said in his first letter to those followers of Jesus:
1 Peter 3:15-16
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks
you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this
with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so
that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior
in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
Let’s use these verses to review our lives in Christ Jesus and how we are responding to His love and living under His Spirit’s power.
Review
When is the last time you told someone about Jesus’ influence on your life? Can you express the reason for the hope you have in Jesus when occasion arises? Are you gentle and respectful amid religious conversation?
Repent if necessary...
of withholding, avoiding or neglecting your witness for Jesus; of failing to be ready to share your hope in Jesus; of not being gentle and respectful to others.
Return as necessary
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you with your witness about Jesus. The Spirit is the primary Witness in the first place, so connect with Him in prayer. Ask Him to assist you in developing a written testimony that helps you
collect your thoughts and feelings as a follower of Jesus.
