Wellspring of Joy

Luke 11:1

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.
When he finished, one of his disciples said to him,
“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

• In Christ, I am a person who prays to my Heavenly Father as Jesus taught and forgives as my Heavenly Father forgives.

Pondering Point

Who taught you to pray? Parents? Pastors? Spouse? Are you self-taught?

Maybe you've never been taught to pray. Jesus still teaches people to pray. Sometimes He uses parents or pastors or other people in the church. Other times He uses His Holy Spirit directly in your heart, mind, or spirit. Considering this, apply a lesson taken from the book of James (4:2): "You have not because you ask not."

Ask Jesus to teach you to pray. No time like the present, huh… After that, step into part three of our walk through the Lord’s Prayer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach me how to pray… Now sit still (or walk) quietly in His presence and await instruction through His Holy Spirit. When you are done, conclude with a “thank You” and say “Amen.”

Praying the Lord's Prayer
Part Three

Let Your will be done among us. Manifest Your will that we may say “I love You Father,” “I love You Jesus,” “I love You Spirit” with our whole heart and soul and mind and strength – and that we may love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:27-29, Deuteronomy 6:5, Leviticus 19:18, Psalm 51:12). We receive Your will as a gift with thanksgiving here on earth as in the heavens.
