Disciples follow Jesus' Call to Pray with Others
Father God, last week we heard Jesus teach His disciples to pray. This week we hear about Jesus’ desire to see us not just be united as one people, but to pray together as well. Bless our relationships to be full of grace and forgiveness and prayer as well, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. ~ Jesus
Pondering Point
Part of God’s kingdom coming and His will being done “on earth as in heaven” is the realization of unity between Him and His people through Jesus. It also occurs with the fulfillment of unity between God’s people themselves, united in Jesus. One of the kingdom places for Jesus is with His people.
Now add this teaching to that thought: "where I am, my servant also will be" (John 12:26). As a servant or follower of Jesus, it matters to be with Jesus while He is with His people. Whether in groups of 2-3 or much larger, being together in Jesus matters.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you said "where I am, my servant also will be" (John 12:26). You are my king and I want to be with You in Your kingdom. I want to see Your kingdom come in my life and in the lives of those among whom I live and serve in Your name. Bless our coming and our going today under Your kingship. Amen.
