Sunday's One Another Commands

Have Equal Concern for Each Other

1 Corinthians 12:25

there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.

Pondering Point

This One Another command comes in relation to God teaching us about the body of Christ and the many diverse parts within Him. Collectively we make up His Body, so you might be able to imagine that Jesus would like to see His body cooperate with Him as the head and with each other as these various parts of His body. What does that look like? Based on this verse, it looks like not tolerating ungodly division and showing equal concern for all parties.

Ponder these four questions with God now (and eventually a group of others):

  1. Who showed concern for me this past week? Thank God.
  2. Who did not show concern to me? Forgive and pray for them.
  3. For whom did I fail to show concern? Seek forgiveness.
  4. For whom did I show concern? Praise God for faithfulness.

Prayer Prompt

Lord Jesus, today we pray against division in your body – at all levels and in all places. We pray for eradication of division at the family and local church levels, at the district and national Church levels, cross-denominationally and across this world. May the spirit of divisiveness be rooted out, repented of, and removed for good. May the spirit of unity – of undividedness – rise and grow and become strong. May You be honored Jesus and may we benefit from that unity.
Amen.
