Wellspring of Joy

John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Pondering Point

Today we pause to celebrate God's heart, one that led Him to send His Son Jesus into this world not to condemn us but save us through Him. Jesus’ very presence is an insight into the desire of God to be with His people. Jesus is even prophetically named Emmanuel—literally “God with us.”

Take a moment to rejoice that God not only sent Jesus to save you, but that in this very moment, Father God desires to see you live in unity with Him and His Son – to commune with you. Communion with God is not limited to partaking of Jesus’ body and blood in a worship venue in a church or home. Communing with God is a multi-faceted experience throughout life.  Consider these Scriptures:

  • Exodus 3:12 The LORD was with Moses helping him lead Israel.
  • 1 Samuel 3:19 The LORD was with Samuel so He let none of his words fall to the ground.
  • 1 Samuel 18:12 Saul was afraid of David because the LORD was with him.
  • 2 Kings 18:7 The LORD was with Hezekiah so he prospered.

Prayer

Thank you Father for exhibiting a heart of forgiveness toward us; Thank you Jesus for showing us what the "exact representation of His being" (Hebrews 1:3) looks like, including His heart to save us and bring us into unity with Himself.

And thank You Jesus for not letting our sawdust and plank issues dissuade You from Your world-changing sacrifice. Amen.
