Discipleship Point
Luke 18:13
“God have mercy on me a sinner.”
You may recall that in Jesus’ teaching on prayer, He told a short parable about a Pharisee and a tax collector. In the end, it was the scorned tax collector who was right with God – the one who beat his breast in repentance and humility and cried out, “God have mercy on me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
This simple prayer has become one of the most well-known since Jesus shared it in story. It is also a great breath prayer to approach God with. It can be full of grief and shame, or one filled with confidence and assurance, or still yet gratitude and peace. It is slated as your breath prayer for today:

Micro-Meditation Scripture
Psalm 119:33-40 (Hei, 5th letter)
- Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end. - Give me understanding,
so that I may keep your law
and obey it with all my heart. - Direct me in the path of your commands,
for there I find delight. - Turn my heart toward your statutes
and not toward selfish gain. - Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word. - Fulfill your promise to your servant,
so that you may be feared. - Take away the disgrace I dread,
for your laws are good. - How I long for your precepts!
In your righteousness preserve my life.
