Call to Worship God, to Gather Together

Psalm 42:11

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Worship is our response to the overtures of love from the heart of the Father. Its central reality is found “in spirit and truth”. It is kindled within us only when the Spirit of God touches our human Spirit.

Prayer for Worship

Drawn from Isaiah 51:12 2 and Corinthians 1:3-5:

Father God, You told Isaiah “I am He who comforts you” and that promised blessing is still in effect today. You are the Father of all mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort others under any affliction.

We do so with comfort we ourselves have received from You. And just as we “share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings” as Paul said, so through Christ we “share abundantly in comfort too”. Thank You for this in Jesus. Amen.
