Disciples follow Jesus’ way
by coming to the Father
Prayer for the Week
Lord God, as we continue this spiritual journey of Lent toward the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, be our guide through the wilderness we experience in this world, be it of spiritual or physical sorts, mental or emotional. Let Your love and joy influence our days, our thoughts, our activities, our choices, and our relationships to bring you glory, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Following Jesus as We Come 'n Go
Luke 18:16
Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Pondering Point
For everyone, children included, the way to the Father is through Jesus. So, by all means let them come to Jesus. When it comes to helping a child “see” God, parents can be good, grandparents and godparents great, and teachers also helpful; but only one person is essential: Jesus. Are you partnering with Jesus to help children “see” God? Are you showing them who He is and bringing children in environments to connect with Jesus?
Prayer for the Day
Lord Jesus, may nothing hinder me from coming to You. And may nothing in me hinder others – adult or children – from coming to You. Amen.
Here's a conviction of mine: the western church has lost sight of the fact that the way of Jesus is just that: a way of life. It's not just a set of ideas (what we call theology) or a list of do's and don'ts (what we call ethics). I mean, it is that, but it's so much more. It's a way of life based on that of Jesus himself. A lifestyle.
