Disciples follow Jesus out from the grave

Just as Jesus was once identified as dead, but is now alive, so we too as followers of Jesus are to identify ourselves as once dead to sin but now alive in Christ (Romans 6:11).

Romans 6:8-11

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Following Jesus as We Come 'n Go

Matthew 28:6,7

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
Come and see the place where he lay. Then
go quickly and tell his disciples: He has risen from
the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee.

Pondering Point

These verses are a great reminder to come and experience what God is doing before we go and tell people about Him. How are you experiencing God in your life, through His Word and Worship, His Spirit and people? How is He bringing new life through Jesus into your life? Are you tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord that Psalm 34:8 describes here?

Psalm 34:8

Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Father God, let me taste and see Your goodness. I am grateful for Your blessings that come as I find my refuge in You, my Rock and Redeemer. I believe You will deliver me from all of my troubles. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
