God's Gospel Truths
Matthew 9:35-38
When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
~ Jesus (the Lord’s Prayer)
Pondering Point
You might recall that at Hope, we often have the confirmands rewrite the Lord's Prayer in their own words; family members are pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
I encourage you (if you have not already done so) to rewrite this prayer in words that match your vocabulary use. You might look up the explanation of the Lord's Prayer in Luther's small catechism (on the internet or in a personal copy).

Lord Jesus, open my eyes and shape my heart to be like Yours. No matter what I say or do, let me do it in mind of You. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Today's Snippet of the Lord's Prayer
written by Revelations Jason Boetcher
Give us this day our daily bread. Provide for all of our needs according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:20). We ask that You provide for all of our physical (Matthew 9:37-38; 1 Timothy 2:1-4; Philippians 4:5-7), spiritual, relational and emotional needs. If there are any specific needs of body or soul for you or others, this is the time to mention them. We give You thanks in advance as our provider. We look to You O Lord and You satisfy the desires all living things (Psalm 145:16).
