Disciples share Jesus’ heart for unity
in His people coming together.
Unity between His people matters to Jesus? Does it matter to you?
Following Jesus as We Come 'n Go
Matthew 5:23-24
23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
Pondering Point
Picture it in your mind: You’re coming to God, gift in hand, to thank Him for graciously reconciling you to Himself through Jesus’ sacrifice. He has forgiven all of your offenses toward Him, promising to welcome you with open arms. At this point you remember that someone else has something against you as well. What do you do with your gift and yourself knowing that Jesus told His followers such as you to leave your gift at the altar and go be reconciled with your brother? Do you go?
Prayer for the Day
Lord Jesus, Oh that we would take this teaching from You seriously. How often we come to Your house to receive Your Word and lift up praises to You, to receive Your sacrament and offer songs of thanksgiving, to receive Your blessing and offer prayers of all kinds. Yet we allow discord and dissension, seeds of which wreak havoc in Your church and in our families. Help us, on our behalf, to live with integrity before You, including this teaching's impact. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
**If you need to “go” in Jesus’ name and be reconcicled, do so.**
