Prayerfully Re-Center Around God
Acts 13:1-3
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
Pondering Point
In Acts 13, the Spirit directs the praying people to send out Barnabas and Saul (who later becomes the Apostle Paul). Being prayerful is not always about speaking but also about listening. Out of such listening came the missionary activity of Paul and Barnabas. Let’s review our lives of prayer:
Review
Does your prayer life (individually and with others) include time to listen for directives from the Holy Spirit? Does your prayer life include fasting and worship?
Repent if Necessary
Repent if necessary for failing to listen, fast, worship, or gather with other believers as a part of your prayer life.
Return (as necessary)
Go to God in prayer, even practicing any omissions from the above list. Consider fasting a meal and praying instead. Have a plan to listen (and record any observations) and worship (music is a great help in this aspect). Consider meeting with other believers to pray and listen as a group.
Day 8: Thursday after Ascension (May 21st)
Theme: Adoration
Pray for the eyes of your friends or family to be opened to all that Jesus offers them and that they would turn their faces to Him and enjoy the warmth of His love.
Did you miss a day or do you want to see all of the prayers together? All of the prayers are available at the end of last week.
New Testament Overview
Acts 1-12

Jesus' followers received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and were filled and equipped to spread the good news that would restore God's kingdom over the world. Through persecution, the believers were scattered. They continued to preach, and the church at Antioch was born. It grew into the first multiethnic, international church from which missionaries were sent throughout the world to preach about Jesus, the messianic Messiah and risen king of all nations.
