Disciples Follow Jesus' Call
“Remain in me and I will remain in you,” Jesus said to His disciples gathered in the Upper Room (John 15:4). Can you envision Him speaking those same words to you now? Where do you envision that conversation occurring? At a church? In your car? At home? Maybe out in nature – on the beach, in a park, on the water? Come to Him. Keep coming to Him. Keep abiding in Him.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life – and have it to the full.
~ Jesus
Pondering Point
It is not unusual for people to blame God when they experience devastation in life. Forgetting the influence of their enemy "the thief," God can become a scapegoat for life's difficulties.
This verse reminds us that both Jesus and our enemy (the devil) are coming for us. That's a given. They're both calling out to us -- albeit in different ways.
What's not a given is your response. Let this serve as a reminder to keep coming to Jesus so that you might "have life" and have it abundantly, and to seek protection and recovery from "the thief" who has come to steal, to kill and to destroy.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I come to you seeking the full, abundant life You have in mind for me. I also come to seek protection and restoration from any destruction my enemy has already caused. In Your name I pray. Amen.
