Biblical Teaching on Prayer
Romans 15:30-32
I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Pray that I may be kept safe from the unbelievers in Judea and that the contribution I take to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the Lord’s people there, so that I may come to you with joy, by God’s will, and in your company be refreshed.
~ The Apostle Paul
Pondering Point
When is the last time that you prayed about the impact of unbelievers on ministry? And why would this come up on Christmas Eve? Revelation 12:1-5 reveals symbolically that Jesus faced opposition right from birth – not just from King Herod, but from the Evil One himself.
Revelation 12:17 further details that this Dragon is now out to get anyone who holds to the testimony of Jesus. The Apostle Paul was facing struggles because of such opposition, and the need for prayers like this still exists.
So while we wish you a Merry Christmas (and hope that you take time to worship God today), not everyone wants to see you enjoy a holiday that elevates and celebrates Jesus.
Prayer
Lord God, I celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ this week and I stand on the testimony that Jesus is Lord. Thank you for protecting me from all enemies visible and invisible till the day I am brought into your eternal home.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Proverbs for the Week
Are you memorizing?
Proverbs 14:8
The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to
their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.
Look up the definition of prudent; a new year is coming.
