Prayerfully Re-Center Around God
John 12:27-28
Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
~ Jesus
Pondering Point
You may already know this, but dwell on today’s truth anyway. Answered prayer is not always deliverance from something, but can rather be through something. That was the case for Jesus as God the Father delivered him through death so that he could deliver us from death. The disciple Peter sought to preserve Jesus from dying, but Jesus would have none of that. He knew God’s will – and made that will His own. God also wanted to preserve Jesus – and us – through death. Let’s review our own prayer requests and desired answer in light of this.
Review the Week
Do you trust God enough to let him bring you through situations rather than merely deliver you from them? Have you been spurning God in light of negative circumstances for which you hold him responsible?
Repent (if necessary)
What undesirable situations are you currently experiencing that you have yet to commit to prayer? Repentance could be about nor bringing your situation to God in prayer or trying to handle it on your own. It could be for misinterpreting your situation by thinking God is not coming through.
Return (as necessary)
Tell yourself – and God – that you trust him fully as the prayer below will assist you and doing.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Jesus’ willingness to face the cross for my sake – for the sake of everyone. I trust You fully. Let me not shrink from living out Your will in life, but rather boldly bring You glory through the life I lead in Your name. Amen.
