As Sent Ones, disciples intentionally
immerse themselves in a relationship with
God through prayer… to overcome temptation

Your Biblical Identity in Christ

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
~ Apostle Paul,
Ephesians 6:10-11

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

• In Christ, I am strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. I will put on the full armor of God, so that I can take my stand against the devil’s schemes, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Pondering Point

Read Ephesians 6:10-18. If you haven’t already done so today, let the following ‘prayer’ of sorts serve to help in putting on God’s armor described in this chapter. As physical armor is intended to protect one’s vital organs, so the armor of God protects the vital parts of one’s spiritual life. To not use God’s armor is to leave yourself unnecessarily vulnerable to the devil’s schemes. Remembering that prayer is conversation with God (and more than just one-way communication), let these words becomes a way for God your heavenly Father to speak to you through Ephesians 6:10-18:

Prayer

My child, find your strength in Me and in My mighty power. Put on My full armor, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Your struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. So armor up fully -- and when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and after all is said and done – still be standing. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. Fit your feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace – the peace I give you. Then take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take up your helmet of salvation and My Word known as the Sword of the Spirit.

Forewarned and now armed, pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Be alert! Keep praying for all of My people. Pray that the mystery of the gospel is fearlessly made known through you and other faithful servants of Mine. Be an encourager to your fellow servants. They need it as much as you do. Extend peace and grace to all who love Us with an undying love; share your faith-driven love whose foundation is from Us, your Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. And – take time to share with others how you are doing. Let them encourage you too.
