Re-Center Around God

This week, as you recenter around God, ask whether you give God’s Word the right to correct, rebuke, and train you or whether you find yourself ignoring scripture or altering it to suit your desires.

Review

Have you tried to soften God's word or ignore portions of it in your life so that you can persist in activities or attitudes God’s word and watchful eye do not accept.

Repent if Necessary

Repent over what you've been doing. God knows but it is good for you to bring it out into the open and take power away from any sin through open admission to it.

Return (as necessary)

... by letting His word be your ultimate ruling authority. Is not that the Bible itself is your ruling authority but rather that the Author of that word, or if you prefer, the Word Himself (Jesus – see John 1:14). Return to Jesus and let His word have its rightful place as the rule and source for all of life.

Micro-Meditation

Psalm 27:1-6

  1. The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
    The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?
  2. When the wicked advance against me
    to devour me,
    it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
  3. Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
    though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.
  4. One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
    that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
    to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
  5. For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
    he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.
  6. Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
    at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Read the versus of the Psalm.

Mark the words or phrases that catch your attention.

Meditate: talk (or better, write) with God about those words. Ask him to impress things upon your heart and mind; expect responses.

Teaching or Command of God

Luke 10:41-42

“Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

The Promise

Psalm 34:10

The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Pondering Point

Placeholder Picture

What one thing would you ask from the Lord and this only seek? For David, it was to dwell in God’s presence. What do you seek above all other things?
