Thursday's Discipleship Response

Missionary Proclaimation

Matthew 9:38

(come) ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
~ Jesus

• In Christ, I have been harvested into God’s kingdom by grace and will pray (and work) that others may experience this same joy of God’s salvation in Jesus.

Pondering Point

At Hope we spend a fair amount of time talking about living as disciples day-to-day. Part of that day-to-day lifestyle includes praying – about life with God, about yourself and about others. In this teachings Jesus specifically includes a focus on “asking the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His harvest field". Think of it as Jesus leaving you a note –

Dear disciple, make this a priority,
-- all my love,
Jesus

Review

Is praying part of your lifestyle? Does the content of your prayers include Jesus’ request above? Does your lifestyle include the mindset of being a harvest-worker?

Repent if necessary...

of being non-prayerful – or of being neglectful of praying specifically for harvest-workers as Jesus requests.

Return as necessary

The most natural action here seems to be return to Jesus’ will that we pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His harvest field.

Prayer

Father God, Lord of the Harvest, I pray that You send workers into Your harvest field. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as in heaven – in me, in my micro- and small groups, in my current church, and in Your current church at large. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
