Thanksgiving Story in Music and Song
Ezra 3:11
With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD,
Pondering Point
What songs of thanksgiving would you choose to sing in praise to the Lord? Who would you yearn to hear singing them for the Lord (maybe a favorite artist, a friend, or a family member)?
Thank God for the writers of these song lyrics, the creators of the song’s tunes, and the people you would love to hear sing to God in praise…and for God’s sake, sing yourself! Car, shower, kitchen – sing to the Lord!
Prayer Prompt for the Day
Find a song or hymn that is set in prayer form, addressing God, and use it as your prayer today. It does not have to relate to thanksgiving, but look for ones that “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.”

It has been years since I led Bible Class on Tuesday morning. But when I did it was rarely a dull moment. We dealt with characters in the Bible and characters in the group.
Can you say “Mary Bell?” How about “Tracy Sorci?” Characters aside, this group worked through personal struggles, relational struggles, theological struggles. We prayed through them. We didn’t just pray at the group. We prayed for the group throughout the week. Mary and Tracy set great examples of following up on prayers lifted up – then celebrating them later. In fact, Mary Bell and Tracy taught me how to celebrate people – not just with birthdays, but with month-long celebrations!
Mary and Tracy embraced leadership of the group, experimenting with new things, loving whoever came through the doors. They’ve been great disciplers for the Lord. How many children of God have we seen of to heaven’s gates, looking forward to joyful reunions!?!
