Pondering Point
You and I are not merely followers of Jesus, but representations of Jesus among those with whom we live. As Luther said, we are "little Christs" and therefore we want to echo His compassion, His kindness, humility, gentleness and His patience.
- First, we are chosen to be His people -- praising God for His actions in Jesus to save us.
- Second, we are chosen to be His representatives -- praising God by our actions in the name of Jesus who saved us.
Review
Remember that, as a child of God, you are dearly loved and made holy through Jesus’ sacrifice. Remember that you represent Jesus to the world, so clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Repent if Necessary
Repent of forgetting or dismissing your primary identity as a child of God. Also repent of failing to clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Return as Necessary
Return to God as your Father, thanking Him for choosing you to receive love through Jesus. Then ask the Holy Spirit for help in clothing yourself as Apostle Paul teaches the Colossians.
Prayer for the Day
Holy Spirit, teach me how to design and wear a godly wardrobe of clothes labelled as compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. I pray this in the name of Jesus, my Lord. Amen.
