Wednesday’s Wellspring of Joy

Ephesians 1:7

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Pondering Point

Our pondering today pulls from songs and hymns, remembering God’s scriptural encouragement about "speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord "(Ephesians 5:19).

“I know that my Redeemer lives!
What comfort this is sweet sentence gives!”
“I've been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!”
“You're familiar with my weakness,
devoted to the end…
Redeemer, Savior, Friend.”

Each of these lyrics celebrates the riches of God's grace poured out for us in the form of forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ. They celebrate the gospel in language reminiscent of the words from Ephesians 1:7 quoted above. Inspired by that, take time to sing/make music to the Lord!

“I sing praises to your name oh Lord,
praises to your name oh Lord,
for your name is great and greatly to be praised!”

Verse 7:
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise!
I glorify my God and King,
For triumphs of His grace!

Verse 14:
I see my sins on Jesus laid;
The Lamb of God was slain;
His soul was once an offering made
For every soul of man….
in Jesus’ name I sing. Amen.

By the way, Charles Wesley originally wrote 18 verses for this song.
