Jesus is the Way

Placeholder Picture

The season of Advent, which kicks off the new church year, centers around Jesus as God-in-the-flesh coming from heaven to us. This upcoming church year will focus on us coming to Jesus in response to his calling us to come learn from me (Matthew 5:1-2, 11:28-29) and come follow him as disciples (Matthew 4:19). As we re-visit past, present, and future comings of Jesus in this Advent, we view them through the plain but profound words of our Lord in John 14:6:

John 4:6

I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.

This week particularly we view Jesus – and ourselves – through the lens of his teaching “I am the way” to the Father. In addition, we will meditate on Psalm 100 during the week. God bless the way.

Prayer for the Day

Placeholder Picture

Father God, I thank You that I am able to come before You confidently in Jesus’ name. He is my way to You, my way to life and my way of life. Let Your Holy Spirit guide me that I may follow Jesus well and learn well from Him as my Lord, in whose name I pray, Amen.

Micro-Meditation

Please visit the introduction to IMMERSION devotions for guidelines regarding a recommended use of Micro-Meditations represented by this symbol and what follows.

Psalm 100:1-5

  1.  Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
  2. Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before him with joyful songs.
  3. Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
  4. Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
  5. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Read the verses two times.

Mark the words or phrases that catch your attention.

Meditate: Talk (better yet write) with God about those words. Ask Him to impress things upon your heart and mind; expect a response.

Pondering Point

What is your gut-level response to being told "shout for joy to the Lord"? Why is that?
