The “Go-Mission” Commission
Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Pondering Point
This “Go-Mission” is of course the Great Commission Jesus sent His disciples on. But it is not their first mission. They had already been out doing mission work among the Jewish people. Now Jesus expands that mission to others as well -- the whole world in fact. Since you are now one of those disciples who have been baptized and taught to obey Jesus’ teachings -- what is your “go” mission?
Prayer
Father God, having been baptized and being taught to obey all that Jesus commanded, I believe that I am one of those disciples who are called to carry on His mission to make disciples of others (also known as fishing for men and saving what was lost). This was Your plan from the get-go, that as Your workmanship in Jesus, I would share the good news of Jesus wherever I go in life. Bless me to do so in Jesus’ name. Amen.
